What it's best for
A general-purpose range: enough magnification for hunting across open country and for target work out to roughly 600 yards, while the low end stays usable for closer shots.
As a second focal plane scope, the reticle stays the same size as you zoom, which keeps it easy to see at low power; holdover marks are only exact at one magnification (usually the highest).
