What it's best for
A general-purpose range: enough magnification for hunting across open country and for target work out to roughly 600 yards, while the low end stays usable for closer shots.
The 50mm objective gathers more light for dawn and dusk, at the cost of a heavier scope that sits higher on the rifle.
As a second focal plane scope, the reticle stays the same size as you zoom, which keeps it easy to see at low power; holdover marks are only exact at one magnification (usually the highest).
